A letter from the house: With the rising of every sun, I find myself straining to hear the pitter-patter of feet—the frantic morning dash from bedroom to kitchen, or the rhythmic thrum of a family living life to its fullest. But the sound never comes. Those little feet eventually grew into bigger ones, and the sounds of this house changed, but my people were always here. Then, one day, they left. I’ve aged, and it shows. I know I need a new roof and a new garage door to feel whole again. My windows are tired, and my HVAC system doesn't hum the way it used to. But inside? My bones are still strong.
